Actual words from one female relative to another after losing my last "real" job.

They probably thought I was lying so I could just freeload off the family. Just like all the other times.

It was just like the 80's. Nobody was interested in helping me battle my ex for child support. And the financial help from my parents stopped about 6 months in. I guess they still thought I should marry my abuser, the one who left me pregnant. That was the 1st question out of my mother's mouth when we announced to my parents I was pregnant at 17.

Now, don't get me wrong. I loved my baby and was going to be there for them no matter what. As much as someone who's suffered soul crushing depression since adolescence could be.

No one helped then and I almost became a porn star then under Tom North of World Model and Talent. But that's a Tale for another time.

"She's so beautiful. And smart. Why doesn't she just use that to pull herself up by her bootstraps?!"

It must have been wonderful news for them all when at age 22 I found a man to keep me. He said he didn't want kids but make no Mistake I was fertile. Isn't that what all "daddies" secretly want?

My mother and my sister have never really held a job for any length of time, but that's ok. They chose the right men.
